University of Akron students attend “Creating Brand YOU” workshop to learn personal and professional branding skills in order to obtain careers after graduation.

CANTON, Ohio - When Incept President and CEO Sam Falletta began teaching a professional workshop in marketing at the University of Akron in the fall of 2011 less than six students registered for his workshop. Now entering its third semester, more than a dozen students are registered for the Summer 2012 edition of the class.
Falletta started the workshop in an effort to share his knowledge and experiences with using social media and online techniques to help students be better prepared to find their dream job after graduation.
"I'm really excited to have a chance to teach the Creating Brand YOU course again for the third time this summer. When I originally heard about the Professional Workshop series I thought it would be important to help students really understand how important their online presence is when they are interviewing for jobs. As a potential employer, the first thing I do is look at an interviewee's social media profiles. I felt like if we could help students identify their greatest strengths and display them online, they'd have a much better shot at landing their dream jobs."
The course curriculum covers a wide range of key factors that help students identify what makes them unique and then teaches them to put those characteristics to work for them. Students learn about everything from the color value of their brand to best practices and tactics for using social networks to leverage their unique value proposition.
Falletta's ambition to empower students to find their identity and then take control of their unique brand has set the workshop apart from others the university offers.
